League Stage

The league stage will consist of 2 groups of 6 players each - both groups will play in a round robin format amongst themselves - the top 2 positions from each group will proceed to the Semi Finals from where the route to the championship will be decided on a knockout basis. The matches in the league stages will consist of a single set with No Ad point on Deuce - the set will be a conventional set - the winner being the first to win 6 games with a difference of 2 or tie break at 6-6. The round robin matches will start from 22nd September and continue on till 25th September - this is being done to enable the round robin matches to be completed on time (wet season, player availability and court booking availability notwithstanding).

A player will be awarded 2 points for each win. Positions will be decided on the basis of most points - if 2 or more players are equal on the same number of points, their win:loss ratio of games will be used to decide the placings. In case of a forfeit by any player (without playing a match) the benefiting player would be awarded a win + 2 points and a positive game difference of 2 added to their scores and vice versa for the player forfeiting. In case of a forfeit by a player in the middle of a match, the benefiting player would be awarded a win/2 points but the set score at the time of forfeit would stand for consideration of win:loss ratio

Seedings & Draw

Keeping in mind the performances over the past championships the organizers have decided to award 4 seedings in this championships. . The rest of the field will be unseeded.

The organizers will hold a draw on the evening of 21st Sept at MSLTA to decide the 2 groups. The 4 seeds will be placed in separate groups (Seed 1 & 3 in Group A while Seed 2 & 4 in Group B) and the rest of the players in each group will be picked from a common lot on an alternate basis. Any player who wishes to be present at the time of the draw is more than welcome. The groups once decided will be final and no requests for changes will be entertained.

For the match-ups in each group the organizers will send out a mail to all participants on the evening of 21st following the draw - all players who are available on the morning of Wednesday are requested to make themselves available at 8:00am in the morning to start their round robin matches.

Balls

The official match balls will be either "Wilson Championship" or "Slazenger Championship" (any one thru the tournament)
Each group will be provided with 5 cans for their league matches (1 can for every 3 matches).
1 new can for each of the semi finals
2 cans for the finals.

Other Points

Ball boys are not provided as a standard - anyone wishing to avail of ball boy services is welcome to hire them independently.
The schedule has been kept extended for the round robin stage to allow players to spread their matches (if required) and also take into account the vagaries of the weather, etc. Depending on the weather and/or availability of players, some players might need to play more matches on a day than others - we request all players to understand and accept this.
In case the semi-finals of finals are delayed due to rains, the players would be requested to complete their commitments in the coming week at the earliest available opportunity.

For any further clarifications/doubts/etc please get in touch with the organizers Ashutosh and/or Haresh.
