Day 5 Recap

9-10 AM - AATP announces date for November event

Following the smashing success of this weekend's AATP Masters, AATP organizers have announced the dates for the next tournament in November, which is likely to be the last of this calendar year. The tournament will run mainly from Friday 19th November to Sunday 21st November with a likely mid-week Wednesday start like we had this week. The schedule was finalized after consulatations with top players including Rizwan Sumar, who is going to be in Mumbai during that time, and sister concern ATP, who wanted to ensure that the tennis spotlight is solely on its World Tour Championships which kicks off in London on 21st November. More on the format and a special addition to the tournament itinerary in the days ahead.

9-45 AM - Haresh heads back to the practice courts after battling chocolate demons

12 hours after being knocked out of the AATP Masters at the semi-final stage, Haresh Ramchandani will head back to the practice courts at MSLTA with Nimesh as he tries to put the disappointing loss behind him and start preparations for the gruelling mid-November season which will see him play in the AITA qualifying event in Pune and the next AATP Masters back-to-back. This was the first time that Haresh failed to advance to the final of a tournament on the AATP Tour.
In related news, our reporters stationed themselves outside the Ramchandani residence at Divyang Building in Colaba in an attempt to get some bytes from the top seed follwoing his loss. While there was no word or sight of Haresh, our reporters soon noticed a five-foot high pile of chocolate wrappers gathering outside Divyang building, blocking the entrance to Florence Beauty Parlour, which is situated at the ground floor of Divyang. Our reporters observed an empty chocolate wrapper flying out of the Ramchandani residence windows every 2-3 minutes all night long. Haresh has been treated for chocolate addicition in the past and there are fears his latest loss could make him fall off the wagon again. Recovered from the choco-rubble were wrappers of Snickers, Three Musketeers, Ferrerro Rochers and Toblerone amongst others

1-20 PM - Rankings Update

With his semi-final win over Bharat, Philips Eapen will move to No.2 in the next AATP rankings while after reaching his first final, Rizwan Sumar will move to No. 4 - both career highs for them; irrespective of the finals result. With his loss in the semis, Bharat will drop to No.3 in the rankings for the first time which means that there is a possibility that the Ramchandani brothers could be placed in the same group in the next tournament. Haresh is assured of holding on to the top ranking till until the next tournament. Final rankings will be issued on Monday.

10 PM - Rizwan completes quest for glory

Rizwan Sumar completed a lifelong dream on Sunday evening as he captured his first ever tennis title, with a 6-4, 7-6 win over the No, 3 seed and former champion Philips Eapen. The final was delayed by 15 minutes due to a light drizzle and both players started evenly. Rizwan won a pivotal seventh game in the first set that went to 11 deuces on his way to a 6-4, 2-0 lead. Philips, who was cheered on by his wife Aparna, bounced back in the second and also served for the set at 5-3 but was unable to close Rizwan out. Rizwan won another pivotal game at 5-5 in the second that went to 12 deuces and finally won the tiebreaker 7-4
Rizwan has been among the most enthusiastic and visible supporters of the AATP Tour; always present to cheer on finals day even when he didn't qualify and always consults with AATP officials with regards to his travel plans to ensure participation on tour. Rizwan is the fourth player to win a title on tour and will move to No. 4 in the new rankings to be released tomorrow. The top 3 players on tour, Haresh, Bharat and Philips are the other players to have won titles on the AATP tour. Rizwan's win also marks the fourth different winner on tour in the last four events, setting up an exiciting tournament in mid-November where all top players are expected to participate.
Stay tuned to the ticker in the coming days for ranking updates, post-mortem analysis and interesting tidbits that you might have missed

Day 4 Recap

1-00 AM - Nimesh lashes out at organizers

Nimesh Vora was not a happy man Friday evening and he certainly made sure the organizers and everyone else knew about it. After Philips beat Dr. Malpani in the opening match of Group B on Friday evening, Nimesh wanted to take the court to play Philips. However, he was told he would have to wait and that Haresh would play Philips. Nimesh pressed organziers for a reason and when he was told that the Philips-Haresh clash was likely to be more pivotal from the group standings point of view, Nimesh did not take very kindly to that. Caught between the difficult personal schedules of the players and the demanding tournament schedule, organizers then gave Nimesh the option to play Philips but Nimesh was not to be placated and insisted he was fine waiting and asked for the Philips-Haresh match to go ahead.
As events unfolded, Nimesh and Philips both finished with 2-1 records, and their clash turned out to be the pivotal one with the winner qualiying for a semi-final clash against Bharat. Due to lack of time, the match had to be pushed to Saturday evening. While Nimesh did not seem very happy about the second-citizen treatment, there was not much he could do about it. Except keep winnning on the court and becoming a contendor in the latter stages of events. He took a major step in that direction on Friday evening with a victory over Dr. Malpani and is now just one step away from the perfect rebuttal to the tournament organizers.

9-45 AM - Rahul has the women screaming for him

Women screaming, cameras flashing. For a moment, it seemed like we were at a pop concert. And Rahul Baijal was the frontman on stage. Then his opponent Bharat hit a few winners and brought everyone crashing back to reality.
With the round robin match between Bharat and Rahul tied at 1-1, a group of women made their way to the sidelines at MSLTA and started rooting wildly for Rahul. While one of them was identified to be his wife, the identity of the others could not be established. The women certainly lifted the atmosphere at the courts. Even other players started getting involved in the fun with one of them telling the women to scream louder. Rahul, himself, seemed a bit embarassed by the actions of his groupies and a couple of times even motioned to them to lower down their volume. Rahul did not win a game after that and lost 1-6.
Meanwhile, the final match of the evening between Bharat and Jonty had all the other players come out on court to watch the ending of the high-quality encounter between classic serve n volleyer and classic retreiver. The match was crucial for deciding group standings and Jonty was doing his best to unsettle Bharat from his game; letting out several 'Commmeee Onnnnns' that ensured we wont miss Lleyton Hewitt at the CWG Games. The match went into extra time and thanks to special arrangements by tournament security officer Watchman Pandey, the players were able to play for ten minutes extra and Bharat wrapped a 6-3 win

2:00 PM - Top AATP stars sign up for Pune AITA qualifying event

Three top AATP players have signed up to play the qualifying event of the All India Tennis Association tournament in Pune in November. Haresh Ramchandani, Ashutosh Goel and Siddharth Singh Rathore will battle with India's top pros in the qualifying draw of the Rs.1 lac event. The main draw begins on Monday 15th November while the qualifying draw will take place on the weekend of 13th-14th November. This would be the fourth attempt of Haresh to qualify for an AITA event, while Ashutosh and Siddharth will make their first appearance on the AITA circuit. Any others interested in signing up can contact AATP offices to find out the procedures.

2-45 PM - Super Saturday schedule

Phillips and Nimesh will kick-off the Super Saturday schedule at 7 pm with the winner facing off against Bharat at 8 pm. Other league matches from Group B (Rizwan vs Ashu, Jonty vs Rahul and Ashu vs Rahul) will also kick off at 7 pm. Rizwan and Haresh are scheduled to start their semi-final at 8 pm as well.

10-35 PM - Philips, Rizwan upset Ramchandanis to enter final

For the first time in AATP history, a Ramchandani will not feature in an AATP final. Philips Eapen, the youngest player in the draw, first beat Nimesh 6-1 today to qualify for the semi-final and then in a nail-biting semi-final upset the No. 2 seeded Bharat 9-8 (9-7). In a take-no-prisoners battle that had the fans compare it to a Becker-Edberg clash, Bharat led 5-3 initially before Philips went up 7-5. At 7-6, 40-30, Bharat hit a cross court backhand return for a winner to save a matchpoint and went on to break back to 7-7. In the tie-breaker, he saved three more matchpoints, but Philips finally won on his fifth. This is the second time that Bharat has lost to Philips in a semi-final on tour.
In the second semi-final, unseeded Rizwan, who has travelled all the way from Dubai to participate in this event, started strong and led 3-1. Top seeded Haresh then came back and built a 5-3 lead but was unable to hold on to it. At 5-5, Rizwan broke again and then held serve twice to complete the 8-6 vicotry. This was only the second time that Haresh has lost on tour to anyone else besides his brother. The only other time that happened was when he lost to Philips in the final of the same tournament where Philips had beaten Bharat in the semis last season. It's only fitting that Philips and Rizwan face-off in the first non-Ramchandani final on the AATP Tour.
In other Group matches that were completed today, Rizwan beat Ashu 6-4, Ashu beat Rahul 6-2 and Rahul beat Jonty 6-4 for his first win on tour

Day 3 Recap

10:00 AM - Haresh takes time off work to ensure fitness

Haresh Ramchandani will be taking time off his office today in order to rest his cold and prepare for his matches tonight. The top seed will be working from home instead of going to his office at far-flung Andheri East so that he can be fresh for his remaining two round robin matches. His boss is also on leave today but is aware of the arrangement.

11-00 AM - Bharat order Becker DVDs; Family spills beans on Becker obessesion

IT CAN NOW BE REVEALED!! Siddharth Singh Rathore is not the only one ordering tennis stuff online. Second seeded Bharat Ramchandani recently went on an online shopping spree and purchased several DVD matches of his tennis idol Boris Becker and had them shipped to California, which his brother visited earlier this month. Bharat, who has modeled his game on the German tennis legend, has now built an enviable collection of Becker matches and is known to watch these tapes the night before tournament matches for inspiration. Reliable family sources have informed us that Becker has been a childhood obsession for Bharat and recalled one particular summer in the late 1980's where a young Bharat spent all his free time in the holidays perfecting Becker's signature swagger walk and drove several family members crazy.

12-50 PM - Daman withdraws officially; resolves racket controversy

Siddharth Singh Rathore has officially withdrawn from the ongoing AATP Masters tournament after failing to recover sufficiently from a neck injury suffered in the gym on Wednesday. Siddharth was placed in Group A which will now see 5 players (Haresh, Philips, Nimesh, Suvir and Dr. Malpani) battle it out for the semi-final spots. This is the latest in a string of disappointments for the Rajput Rathore, who was seen as a dark horse after building his game and temperament in the off-season.
In the latest development of the story we broke yesterday, Siddharth has resolved his issues with Mumbai customs authorities and cancelled his order for HEAD rackets from Tennis Warehouse. He has now placed an order with the official AATP equipment partner Selection Sports Centre for two HEAD rackets, which will come from Austria in about three weeks.

2:00 PM - Exclusive pics of Haresh & Steffi in NY

AATP has landed an exclusive picture of top seeded Haresh Ramchandani and Steffi Graf in New York. Haresh was in the US earlier this month and this picture was snapped during his visit to the US Open a few weeks ago. At one point during his visit to NY, Haresh also came face-to-face with Steffi's husband, Andre Agassi. No untoward incident or exchange was reported as a result of that face-to-face encounter.
AATP is currently negotiating with Haresh to secure exclusive rights to the pictures of his US Open visit. The top seed has been offered a four-figure sum (including decimal points) and is also in talks with Mid-Day and Sportstar for the same. He is expected to sign up with the highest bidder.

3-15 PM - Philips Eapen signed to host AATP awards night

AATP has signed up Philips Eapen to host its 1st ever AATP Awards night, scheduled tentatively for sometime in mid-2011. Philips, seeded third at the ongoing AATP Masters, has a rich background in hosting and public speaking; having hosted several events during his college days. He is currently in the midst of launching his own public speaking classes in Chembur and has also agreed to give a Rs.1000 referral fee to the AATP players if anyone coming through them signs up for his classes. Phillips will be leaving Chembur in a short while to reach the courts at Cooperage and launch his campaign for his second AATP title.

5-45 PM - Where does this hedge fund manager see the Sensex headed?

36 year old hedge fund manager Rahul Baijal has his money riding on one of the Ramchandani brothers to win this week's AATP Masters but thinks anyone with a longer-term view should place some money on Ayaz, who "has the game and stamina to win but needs to work more towards getting there." Baijal, who works for the India dedicated equities fund, Voyager Capital, is the only debutante in this week's tournament after sometimes doubles partner Rashish pulled out on Wednesday.
Rahul grew up in Delhi but has spent the last 11 years traversing the landscape of South Mumbai and counts Indiabulls CEO Gagan Banga among his childhood friends. He thinks of himself more as a doubles specialist but is enjoying the challege of playing singles this week. When asked to comment on where he thinks the Sensex might be headed in the coming months, Rahul commented, 'Either up or down ....but could be flat also!".

7-35 PM - Day 3 Schedule

Former champion Phillips Eapen and Dr. Aniruddha Malpani will kick off
proceedings in Group A action at 8 pm tonight at the MSLTA courts.
Phillips will also play key matches with Suvir and Haresh while Dr.
Malpani will also face-off against Haresh and Nimesh later tonight.
Ayaz and Ashu will kick off proceedings on the adjacent court for
Group A. Ayaz is also expected to play Rizwan and Jonty later tonight.
Bharat and Rahul will also take the court later for their group match.

11-30 PM - Haresh, Bharat, Rizwan qualify for semis; Philips-Nimesh to battle for last spot

The Ramchandani brothers went unbeaten in the round robin stage to top their respective groups while Rizwan finished second in Group B to book a semi-final spot against Haresh. Philips and Nimesh will play their group match tomorrow evening in a winner-takes-all clash and a semi-final berth against Bharat.
Bharat beat Rahul 6-1 and Jonty 6-3 to finish with a perfect 5-0 record. Rizwan beat Ayaz 7-6 in another marathon encounter and is currently 3-1 with his match against Ashu pending. In other Group B matches, Ayaz beat Ashui 6-2 and lost to Jonty 0-6 to finish with a 2-3 record. Rahul also has matches with Jonty and Ashu pending from the round robin stage.
In Group A, Haresh beat Philips 6-4 and Dr. Malpani 6-2 to finish with a 4-0 record. Philips beat Dr. Malpani 6-3 and Suvir 6-3 to stand at 2-1. Nimesh beat Dr. Malpani 6-4 and also stands at 2-1. The winner of their round robin clash will finish second in the group and qualify for the semi-finals.

Day 2 Reacp

8-20 AM - Rizwan Sumar, the Dubai-based AATP player, has landed in Mumbai earlier this morning. Rizwan is one of regulars on the tour and has always coincided his visits to Mumbai with the AATP schedule. Sources inside Mr. Bhatt's office at MSLTA have also reported that Rizwan has already booked a court for a one-hour practice session later this morning to get familiarised with the courts and conditions

9:05 AM - One of the two players making their debut on the AATP Tour this week has pulled out of the tournament due to last minute personal committments. Rashish, who was slotted to play in Group B, informed organizers early this morning of his inability to play the event. Organizers did not provide more details on the nature of 'personal committments'. While the organizers are trying to get an alternate in place of Rashish, they were not very hopeful since many of the region's other players are in Delhi for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. Organizers HareAsh did not seem alarmed at this turn of events and said at worst, Group B would play a round-robin between the remaining 5 players in order to determine the semi-finalists. Bharat, Jonty, Rizwan, Rahul and Ashutosh are the other players in Group B and in the only match so far from the group, Bharat beat Ashutosh 6-2 last evening. Several matches in Group B will take place tonight at 8 pm under the floodlights at MSLTA

11-45 AM - Ayaz Vasi has returned to Mumbai earlier than expected from Surat. With Rashish having pulled out earlier this morning, Ayaz’s return could not have come at a more appropriate time for the organizers who now have a complete field once again. Vasi will take Rashish’s place in the draw in Group B alongside Bharat, Jonty, Ashu, Rizwan and Rahul.

2:00 PM - Mardy Fish’s 30 pound weight loss has been grabbing the headlines all summer in the international tennis media. On this side of the globe, few have paid attention to Nimesh Vora’s weight loss and the gains that he has achieved through it. Since making his debut on the AATP tour, Vora has lost 20 pounds in the last 18 months thanks to a running-diet-gym routine that is now paying huge dividends on the court. The transformation was never clearer than during his match with top seed Haresh last evening. At 4-2, Haresh hit a well-executed drop shot which he says 18 months ago, Nimesh would have reached only on its third bounce. Yesterday, Nimesh not only got there in time but managed to hit a forehand passing shot down the line for a winner. Haresh went on to win that encounter 6-3 in the latest chapter of their 15-year old tennis rivalry.

Haresh has been highly impressed with Nimesh’s retrieving on court in recent times and would put him among the best retrievers in the field this week. Earlier on Wednesday, Nimesh beat school frenemy Suvir Shah 6-0. Vora, who can often be seen running on Marine Drive in the early mornings or late evenings, celebrates his 31st birthday on this coming Monday and can think of no better gift for himself than qualifying for his semi-final on the tour. With a 1-1 record after Day 1 and pivotal matches against Phillips, Dr. Malpani and Siddharth Singh Rathore coming up, Haresh has named his school mate as the dark horse in Group A.

4-15 PM - Inside sources from Tennis Warehouse have confirmed that enigmatic AATP star Siddharth Singh Rathore bought the HEAD racket currently being used by Novak Djokovic on its website late last night, as well as some high-tech strings. Siddharth had been contemplating whether to buy a HEAD or Babolat racket after cracking his Wilson frame a couple of weeks back. However, a few hours later, customs authorities in Mumbai contacted Siddharth and informed him of the exorbitant amount of customs duty that he would have to pay to get the racket imported into the country. Siddharth quickly tried to cancel his order from Tennis Warehouse after realizing the economics of the deal don’t make sense but customs authorities in Mumbai are not in favor of him canceling his order. Last heard, Siddharth had left his factory in Daman on Thursday morning (a day earlier than expected) to meet customs authorities in Mumbai and sort out the issue. He is also expected to meet with his physiotherapists later tonight for some final treatment on his trigger finger before launching an assault on the AATP Masters tomorrow evening. We will keep you updated on developments with this story as we get them.

4-20 PM - The verdict on the Ayodhya title suit has been deferred by at least five days by the Supreme Court. It was scheduled to be delivered tomorrow by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. The Supreme Court will hear a plea before it again on Tuesday, September 28. Authorities were anticipating trouble in several parts of the country including the financial capital Mumbai. AATP organizers had made special chopper arrangements to fly former champion Phillips Eapen from Chembur to Cooperage in case any trouble broke out in the city. However, it looks like at this point that would not be required.

11-30 PM - Bharat and Rizwan scored two wins each on Day 2 of the AATP Masters after an exhausting day's play at the MSLTA courts. Bharat beat Ayaz 6-4 and then followed it with a 6-2 win over Rizwan for this third win in as many matches. Rizwan sandwiched his loss to Bharat in between 6-0 wins over Rahul and Jonty.
In other matches in Group B, Jonty beat Ashu 6-1 while in the longest no-ad set in AATP tennis history at 55 minutes, Ayaz beat Rahul 7-6. The action heats up tomorrow with both groups taking the court at 8 pm

11-50 PM - Siddharth Singh Rathore has informed AATP organizers that he is likely to withdraw from the ongoing AATP Masters after jamming his neck during a workout session in the gym at Daman, Siddharth injured his neck on Wednesday and organizers have given him time till Friday morning hoping that some physiotherapy and a good nights sleep will enable him to participate. Siddharth has suffered several instances of bad luck during the AATP tournaments. In 2009, he had to pull out of one tournament at the last minute due to a flu and earlier this year, he played through one tournament with severe blisetres on his hand. We will provide you more updates on this story and his racket exploits as we get them.

Day 1 - Recap

Wednesday 21st Sept -

9 am - Ayaz Vasi has pulled out of this week's AATP PRO AM Masters after his
wife's grandfather passed away in Surat. Ayaz had to rush to Surat
yesterday and will not be back in Mumbai until Saturday evening. The
AATP family extends condolences to Ayaz, Ashifa and his family.

9:30 AM - Top seed Haresh Ramchandani is reportedly suffering from a severe cold
and has requested tournament organizers for a late start. Haresh was
expected to take the courts on Wednesday for his round robin matches
but has now requested that his matches be moved to Thursday or Friday
to give him sufficient time to recover.

10-30 AM - Doctors have given Suvir Shah a clean chit after an examination of his
injured ankle this morning. Suvir injured his ankle ten days ago while
playing at MSLTA with school friend Nimesh and has not picked up a
racket since then. But he is raring to go after being given the green
signal by the docs. Suvir is placed in Group A along with
chaddi-buddies Nimesh and Haresh and is expected to play Nimesh later
this evening. Also in his group are Dr. Malpani (NOT the doctor who
examined him), Siddharth Singh Rathore and Phillips Eapen.

12-10 PM - Siddharth Singh Rathore, better known as Daman within the AATP
fraternity, has decided to play this week's AATP Masters using Rafael
Nadal's Babolat racket after cracking his Wilson frame, made popular
by Roger Federer. Siddharth explained to our reporters that he has
been thinking about switching rackets for some time now and this
switch has nothing to do with the switch in on-court fortunes of Roger
and Rafa. He also said he is exploring the HEAD frame currently used
by Novak Djokovic, with whom Daman shares his birthday, and is
currently raising funds for the same. Since moving from the 4 1/4 grip
sized Wilson to the 4 3/8 sized grip Babolat, Siddharth has been
suffering a condition known as trigger finger on his little finger.
Http://orthopedics.about.com describes trigger finger as 'a common
problem that causes pain and snapping of the tendons in the fingers.
The problem that occurs in a patient who has trigger finger is due to
the tendons of the fingers, and the sheath in which these tendons
live".

In related news, Daman will be using the Babalot racket of Siddharth
Sharma, better known as Uncle Toni Sharma, for this tournament while
he finalizes which racket to purchase. Sources have reported, though
unconfirmed, of a fall out between Uncle Toni and his star pupil
Haresh; and Daman is reportedly interested in hiring Uncle Toni on a
full-time basis. Daman chose not to comment on this story while
speaking to our reporters while messages and calls to Uncle Toni and
Haresh to comment on the same went unanswered

2:20 PM - Under severe pressure from the world media and the Indian sports and
political fraternity, Commonwealth Games Organizing Committe Chairman
Suresh Kalmadi dashed to Mumbai earlier this morning and called on
AATP's organizing duo Ashutosh Goel and Haresh Ramchandani (to be
referred as HareAsh going forward and pronounced as Hare-Ash) to
enlist their expertise to salvage the Games which is only 11 days
away. HareAsh have built a stellar reputation over the past two years
which is currently seeing their AATP Tour organize their seventh
tennis tournament in less than 2 years. Sources have reported that
HareAsh did meet Kalmadi and promised to reach Delhi on Sunday night
after the AATP Masters comes to end and in the interim will be
supporting Kalmadi's crack team from Mumbai

3:35 PM - Our reporters caught Ashutosh Goel at Lalbaug earlier this afternoon
as the high-flying F&B executive headed to pray at Mumbai's famous Lalbaug Cha Raja on the last day of Ganpati festival, following his meeting with CWG chief Suresh Kalmadi. While Ashutosh would like us to believe this was a routine visit, sources close to the pujari at the temple have told us that he was there to seek divine blesings as he kicks off his campaign to become Cooperage Cha Raja.
When our reporters quizzed Ashu on the status of his shoulder injury
which marred his previous campaign, Ashu replied "My shoulder injury
has completely healed after taking some much needed rest from
competitive tennis. I relocated to the hot climates of Dubai to
undergo a rigorous training and conditioning programme for the season
ahead;" When asked who he thought were favourites and dark horses for
this week's tourney, Ashu believed the Ramchandani brothers would be
hard to beat but thinks a family final will be unlikely again; and
also said to watch out for Siddharth SIngh Rathore "a certain fair and
lovely, or is it handsome, bloke has been rubbing cream into his skin
and his game" and Jonty Kandpal, "the fast rising father of two who
has been seen regularly practicing with his first-born, adding new
dimensions to his game."

4:55 PM - The kick off is only a few minutes away... Bharat and Ashutosh will begin play on Court no. 2 from Group B while Haresh and Nimesh will kick off Group A action on Court No. 1. Dr. Malpani and Suvir Shah are also expected to play their first matches later this evening. Keep checking your mail for updated scores.

6-45 PM - On a quiet Wednesday evening, most of the favourites won their matches. In the only Group B match, Bharat beat Ashutosh 6-2. In Group A, Haresh battled past Nimesh 6-3 in a tight encounter after beating Suvir 6-1. Earlier, Nimesh beat Suvir 6-0. In the final Group A match, Suvir caused an upset by unexpectedly beating Dr. Malpani 7-5 in fading light

Keeping in mind the performances over the past championships the organizers have decided to award 4 seedings in this championships. . The rest of the field will be unseeded.

The organizers will hold a draw on the evening of 21st Sept at MSLTA to decide the 2 groups. The 4 seeds will be placed in separate groups (Seed 1 & 3 in Group A while Seed 2 & 4 in Group B) and the rest of the players in each group will be picked from a common lot on an alternate basis. Any player who wishes to be present at the time of the draw is more than welcome. The groups once decided will be final and no requests for changes will be entertained.

For the match-ups in each group the organizers will send out a mail to all participants on the evening of 21st following the draw - all players who are available on the morning of Wednesday are requested to make themselves available at 8:00am in the morning to start their round robin matches.

Balls

The official match balls will be either "Wilson Championship" or "Slazenger Championship" (any one thru the tournament)
Each group will be provided with 5 cans for their league matches (1 can for every 3 matches).
1 new can for each of the semi finals
2 cans for the finals.

Other Points

Ball boys are not provided as a standard - anyone wishing to avail of ball boy services is welcome to hire them independently.
The schedule has been kept extended for the round robin stage to allow players to spread their matches (if required) and also take into account the vagaries of the weather, etc. Depending on the weather and/or availability of players, some players might need to play more matches on a day than others - we request all players to understand and accept this.
In case the semi-finals of finals are delayed due to rains, the players would be requested to complete their commitments in the coming week at the earliest available opportunity.

For any further clarifications/doubts/etc please get in touch with the organizers Ashutosh and/or Haresh.
