Rain threatens AATP Masters; Players and fans demand roof at MSLTA

The rain gods have thrown a spanner in the work of AATP organizers as
unexpected unseasonal showers hit South Mumbai last evening.

The AATP Masters Championships are scheduled to kick off at 5 pm this
evening but the keeping the rains away is going to be a challenge.
Organizers also woke up to find the roads at South Mumbai wet, which
means there was some overnight rain as well.

The rain has intensified the demand for a roof over MSLTA. AATP
organizers have been in talks with MSLTA officials for several years
now over the issue and will talk to them once again after the event.

The AATP Masters is the only major event in the tennis calendar,
alongwith the US Open, that does not have a roof.

In other news, the draw for the event will be conducted at 9-30 am
this morning and will be sent via a press release shrortly.
